Event Descriptions and Rules

Teams will receive points depending on their placement in each event. Last place receiving 1 point and increasing from there. The team with the most points at the end will be the winner, and receive the bragging rights as the grooviest roller skaters in your group.

Relay Race:

Each skater from each team will race one lap around the cones passing the relay stick to the next racer, totaling 5 laps. Team to cross the finish line first is the winner.

Red Light Green Light:

Teams start on a line going across the width of the skating floor. Teams must hold hands. Can only skate forward when the D.J. says Green Light Go! Must completely stop skating with out falling down or letting go of each others hands by the time the D.J. finishes saying Red light 1,2,3. If the team falls down, is still rolling, or lets go of hands they must go all the way back to the line. D.J. will also say other words like Go!, or Blue Light Go!, or Green Bright Grow! If the team moves on any of these they must go back to the beginning line. The first team to touch the wall at the other end of the rink is the winner.

Dice Game:

Teams skate around the floor to the music, when the music stops the team will stop underneath one of the six numbers hanging from the ceiling. The referee will roll the dice and the team or teams that are underneath that number must clear the floor. The last team left skating will be the winners.

Cannonball Race:

Each team of five picks a member to be the cannonball. This skater will go down into a tuck position wrapping their arms around their shin. The other four team members will do one lap each pushing their cannonballed teammate around the cones. At the end of the four laps the first team to cross the finish line is the winner.

The Roller Disco Dance Finale

All teams will take the floor to roller disco dance skate to a medley of funk and disco roller rink hits from the era when roller skating received its’ original fame! At the end of the medley our referees will choose the top 3 teams for the final dance off. These teams will take the floor and dance skate their butts off to the Cha-Cha Slide, (a new age hip hop hokey-pokey which directs you through the various steps). At the end our referees will award 15 points to first place, 10 points, to second, and 5 points to third. A great way for teams that are behind to gather up some last minute points. Only the top three will receive points in the finale.

Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards will be given to the top three teams with the most points!!!
