Why I love skating: The better you get at skating, the more fun it is. You eventually experience a sense of freedom in motion that is hard to replicate. Skating has a perfect mix of technical application and artistic expression. At it’s heart, it’s physics and dancing. Who could ask for a better combination?

Why I love skating: Skating was just something really fun to do when I was younger,   and I kept with it. I was one of those Teen Night skaters who found they could take their skating even further. Now, I’m most at home in the middle of the floor practicing choreographed step-lines with other skaters.

Age: 25

Skate Experience: I have been skating for about my whole life both my parents have worked for the Lynnwood bowl and skate. I have skated on everything that I can get my hands on from professional speed skates to fisher price. I mostly skate on inlines and speed skates. I still skate on quads mostly for teaching and learning derby. As well as trained for a long distance speed skate run and some slalom.

Teaching Experience and Credentials: I have been teaching for over 5 years and I have taught all ages young and old

  • Level 1 SkateIA instructors certification

Why I love skating: Skating has become a part of my life. Skating not only was something that I can do in my free time, but it has become part of my family. Skating for me brings out the type of person that can openly express yourself. It may be full contact derby or seeing who can skate the longest until they drop but skating is something that everyone can do and something that you can take to any place that you want.

Dani Smith
Age: 20

Skate Experience: 8 years of roller skating for fun, 2 years of roller derby as both a blocker and jammer, 1 year learning jam skating.

Teaching Experience and Credentials: A year and a half teaching group lessons and private lessons.

Strongest teaching strength: My best teaching strengths are working with kids and beginners to make sure their skating experience is fun and successful.

Why I love skating:  I feel like I can be myself on the skating floor, and while that sounds silly, there’s so many skate styles I can learn to express myself and how I’m feeling. If I’m having a tough day, skating usually makes it better, plus there’s the skating community which is filled with amazing people and friends. Some I feel comfortable calling my family, I love skating, it is life.
